I like this, despite the large areas of grass and wall, there's a lot to look at and one's eye is drawn backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards between the different elements in the picture.

Thank you, he was a very good artist. I would mention also the clever use of red which brings her dress to the front and is echoed in the path which draws the eye to the figure.

And I keep looking at the twiggy, barbed-wirey-looking thing by her feet. What's that?

Going by the leaves Lucy it seems to be Autumn and what you are referring too are dead rushes that were growing in the pond. I wish he had left a note of which garden he painted it in.

I am sure those twigs are to be used for magic wands! It's quite likely she should not be standing there! (grin!) Perhaps if she can just get a piece of a twig in her purse...
