She was another Pre Raphaelite influenced artist, and I liked this, as it has become one of those books everyone has heard of - but no one (including me by the way) has actually read.

I read it as a child and liked it. It also made an impact on me. I think for the good.

It is a book I should re-read sometime because I would come to it in a different way.

It has been much criticised in recent years but that, I think, is probably because people read it without taking its original context into account. If one has suffered from racism in one's own life, maybe that isn't possible to do.
