Arthur Rackham - A Young Woman in a Garden

c. 1920
Watercolour on paper
I wouldn't have recognised this as a Rackham but Peter Nahum wouldn't get this wrong and when sold it came with correspondance from him.
for examples of his autograph
I've owned a number of editions (including firsts) by him over the years and the freshness and use of line and colour still continue to surprise and delight me.

i almost couldn't believe it's Rackham's...something different here.
i guess i got used to those ink-poster-alike images from him.

Just what I thought. I was lucky enough to meet the grand-daughter of an artist who had been taught by Rackham yesterday.

You were very lucky. I wonder what Rackham was like as a person?
He had a great imagination.
This picture is just lovely!:)
