thanks for this, very interesting. 2 points in the interview that relate to gardens as well. First - calling it art not illustration and second the use of space, negative space. This animal (buffalo?) would look very different and not nearly so wonderful if it was placed in the centre of the page. I guess it is like the function of lawn or paving.

I think many of the best garden designers were also artists - like Gertrude Jekyll.
