I've always loved Shirley's style. Some colleges of mine find her a bit old fashioned, but I've always thought she really captured the magical sense of illustration. Dogger is one of her best. Thanks for reminding me of it.
To me a baby boomer (born in 1953) this is nostalgic and feels right.
