Four Books from the Libraries of the Imperial Children at the Alexandrov Palace.

BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARIES OF THE IMPERIAL CHILDREN AT THE ALEXANDROV PALACE, including two children's books: Iz Zhizni Nashikh Predkov [From the Lives of our Ancestors] by A. Smirnov and Lastochkino Gnezdo i drugie Rasskazy [The Swallow's Nest and other stories] by O.I. Rogovaia. Both children's books were published by Alfred Fedorovich Devrien. Another of the books, Suvorov v Rodnoi Poezii [Suvorov in National Poetry], was written by Petr Vasil'evich Petrov, the Imperial children's Russian tutor also charged with supervising all of their studies and various other tutors, and is inscribed by him to 'O[l'ga] N[ikolaevna] from P.V. Petrov, 18.10.1910, Ts[arskoe] S[elo]'. The last is inscribed 'To dear Maria Pavlovna from Netochka [Anna Vriubova]'. Maria Pavlovna was Nicholas' niece and Vriubova was lady-in-waiting to and close friend of Empress Aleksandra Fedorovna. Fekula 2928, 3852, 5019, 5230 (these copies). (4)

Wish I could see inside. I used to go to lots of auctions / sales and rather miss these unusual books that often no one else seemed to want.
