Mabel Lucie Attwell - two pictures

i) "The Moonlight Visitors", 255 by 172mm., pen, ink and watercolour on silk, mounted, framed and glazed, some loss and tears to silk; ii) "You Can Get a Bit of Peace in the Army", 170 by 266mm., pencil, ink and watercolour drawing heightened with gouache, signed "Mabel Lucie Attwell" in lower right corner, slight damage to frame; both framed and glazed (2)

The first illustration was apparently published as a print with the title "Who's Afraid?"

There is something a little bit Heath Robinson about the second one? I love those shiny chubby cheeks!

She has such a unique style. I could have bought her easel a few years ago but turned it down on cost. Regret,

I had a big collection of her postcards at one time but got an offer I couldn't refuse. She always makes me smile (like Garfield and Marmeduke!)
